What To Expect In Your First Session
Your first session is a chance to slow down and listen to what your body has been communicating. We will spend approximately one hour together assessing how you move, identifying patterns that may have developed through past injuries, surgeries, trauma, or everyday habits, and beginning to retrain those patterns in a supportive, practical way. You can expect a thoughtful, individualized approach that meets you where you are.
Why a Soma Therapist?
Somatic therapy is a gentle, body-based approach that helps you become more aware of how your body moves, holds tension, and responds to stress. Over time, injury, trauma, surgery, and daily habits can create patterns that affect comfort, mobility, and overall well-being. Through guided movement and body awareness, somatic therapy helps retrain those patterns so you can move with more ease, release tension, and feel more balanced in everyday life.
Digestion
When the muscles through the center of the body begin to soften and work more efficiently, digestion can improve. Somatic therapy helps support a more regulated nervous system, allowing the body to shift more fully into a rest-and-digest state.
Fatigue
When the body is stuck in patterns of unnecessary tension, it uses more energy than it needs to. Learning to move with greater ease and efficiency can help free up energy for daily life, leaving you feeling less drained and more capable.
Breathing
Breathing patterns often reflect how the body holds tension. Through somatic therapy, you can develop greater awareness of your diaphragm and breath, helping each breath feel fuller, easier, and more supportive.
Pain
Pain is often connected to muscles that have forgotten how to fully let go. Somatic therapy helps retrain patterns of contraction and release, restoring function, easing discomfort, and helping the body move with less strain.
Mobility
Greater awareness leads to better movement. By releasing habitual tension and improving control, somatic therapy can help increase range of motion, flexibility, and confidence in everyday activities.
Stress
Stress lives in the body as much as it does in the mind. Somatic therapy helps you recognize how stress is showing up physically, so you can release tension, regulate your nervous system, and feel more grounded in how you move through daily life.
